The Spirax Sarco CS10 stainless steel clean steam separator is designed to remove entrained moisture from clean and pure steam systems so a drier steam supply reaches the hygienic point of use. Source material for the CS10-1 highlights steam dryness above 95%, low pressure drop and a removable internal baffle, which are all relevant where clean steam quality needs to be both effective and inspectable. Dry steam is important where heat transfer quality and condensate control affect sterilisation outcome, process consistency or the condition of downstream clean service hardware. By separating moisture before it reaches valves, instruments, sterilisers or other critical equipment, the separator helps reduce water carryover that can damage components or destabilise the duty. CS10 fits naturally into a wider clean steam arrangement that may also include generators, filters, hygienic traps and sanitary control devices.
In critical clean steam service, wet steam is not only a thermal efficiency problem. Moisture carryover can affect sterilisation repeatability, create unstable control conditions and expose downstream equipment to condensate that should have been removed earlier in the line. CS10 addresses that issue at the conditioning stage, before the duty becomes harder to control.
That makes the separator particularly relevant on routes where clean steam has already been generated correctly but still needs dryness protection before it reaches instruments, control valves or sterilising equipment.
