The Spirax Sarco BT6-B is a hygienic balanced-pressure thermostatic steam trap developed for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food processing duties where cleanability, low condensate hold-up and steam quality integrity all matter. Its 316L stainless steel wetted construction, high internal surface quality and self-draining body design help support cleaner service use and reduce the microbiological risk associated with retained condensate. Balanced-pressure thermostatic operation allows the trap to discharge condensate close to steam saturation temperature, with source material emphasising minimal sub-cooling at lower pressures and hygienic condensate handling. Minimal condensate retention is particularly important in clean steam mains, sterile barriers, sterilisers, autoclaves, bioreactors and steam filter housings where stagnant condensate would compromise process quality or hygiene expectations. BT6-B is therefore positioned as a purpose-built hygienic drainage device rather than a general industrial trap adapted for clean service after the fact.
BT6-B is designed for duties where condensate removal has to support cleanability as well as heat transfer. In these environments, retained condensate is not just an efficiency loss. It can also create hold-up points that work against sterile barrier performance, product quality or clean steam line hygiene.
